The meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and White House candidate Donald Trump was “extremely delicate,” Le Figaro writes. However, it has sparked controversy in Ukraine due to the former US leader’s criticism of Washington’s aid to Kyiv.
The conversation took place in New York at Trump Tower on September 27 and lasted about an hour. Journalists learned that Zelensky changed his schedule for the sake of it and stayed in the United States for one more day. During the talks with Zelensky, Trump also said that he was ready to cooperate with the Democrats if he wins the election to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. The Republican added that Zelensky is “going through incredible trials.”
Less than a day before the supposed meeting, Time magazine wrote: Zelensky’s visit to Trump’s residence in Florida was cancelled due to concerns that the meeting in the States could be seen as Kiev’s support for the American politician. The Ukrainian leader’s team proposed meeting on neutral territory.
