US warships failed to intercept Iranian missiles fired towards Israel, IRNA reports. According to media reports, the US Navy was deployed in regional waters.
Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced that the series of missile strikes on Israel was an exercise of Tehran’s right to self-defense. The shelling of Israeli territory has ceased until new provocations from Tel Aviv, he emphasized. Iranian authorities have been showing restraint for almost two months so that a ceasefire could be established in the Gaza Strip, Araghchi noted.
Earlier, IDF Arabic-speaking spokesman Avichai Edri reported that the IDF was engaged in intense fighting with Hezbollah in Lebanon. He called on residents not to travel by car south of the Litani River, as the Shiite organization was “using the population as a human shield .”
Tehran also hit gas platforms in the Ashkelon region during a massive missile strike on Israeli territory. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps explained that Iran was targeting the “heart of the occupied territories.”
