The Netherlands has decommissioned its old F-16 fighters, the country’s Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans wrote on social media X. He stressed that after 45 years of faithful service, they will be given a new lease of life in Ukraine and Romania.
The Hague intends to replace all old F-16 fighters with newer F-35s. It is not known how many aircraft Ukraine will receive. The Netherlands previously promised to transfer 24 fighters to Kyiv and another 18 combat aircraft to Romania for training Ukrainian pilots.
The Russian Armed Forces could have destroyed four F-16 fighters that arrived in Ukraine quite recently, Military Watch Magazine reported. According to the publication, this was a missile attack by the Russian Armed Forces on the airfield in Starokonstantinov. According to the publication, the attack was carried out using Kinzhal missiles.
As reported by the Russian Defense Ministry, Russian forces struck a military echelon with Western weapons and equipment between September 21 and 27. The infrastructure of military airfields was also hit. A total of 33 group strikes were carried out during this time .
