Artificial intelligence can perform some of the functions of a journalist, including collecting and analyzing data, writing news from the presented material. But AI is not fully capable of replacing the entire arsenal of media employees, including deeper analysis of information and human perception. This opinion was expressed in a conversation with Gazeta.Ru by Associate Professor of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation Petr Shcherbachenko.

“Speakers may start communicating with AI for quick comments, but full trust in AI on sensitive topics or complex situations is unlikely. People prefer to interact with live professionals who can empathize and understand the context. In addition, there are risks to using AI in journalism,” the economist noted.

According to him, the first risk is unreliable information. AI can generate inaccurate or distorted data, which can lead to the spread of fakes, Shcherbachenko explained. The second risk is that AI cannot be held accountable, unlike a person, Shcherbachenko added. He clarified that if AI writes an article based on unreliable information, the question of who is responsible – the developer, the platform owner, or the AI itself – remains open.

As reported by the Kommersant newspaper, due to the growing popularity of generative neural networks, both the number of vacancies for copywriters and editors and the amount of salary offered to them have fallen. At the same time, evolutionary biologist, epigeneticist, and professor at Tel Aviv University Eva Yablonka told RIA Novosti that artificial intelligence can gain consciousness only if specialists manage to create a robot with feelings and introduce into it the adaptive plasticity that living beings are naturally endowed with.

Earlier it became known which Russians are being offered the highest salaries in September.
