Many people leave their charger plugged into the socket all the time, without thinking about the possible consequences. Experts from the Roskachestvo Digital Expertise Center told Gazeta.Ru why it is important to always disconnect the charger from the mains.

If you leave the charger plugged in, it may catch fire or even explode. The risks are minimal, but already this year in Russia there have been cases of fires caused by chargers left plugged in. This is due to the fact that voltage surges occur in household electrical networks. They can happen quite often and can disable even the most reliable devices.

“Sockets with USB ports are especially dangerous. They look like regular sockets with the usual round connectors, below which are rectangular ports – the same as on chargers. And the “filling” of the socket is the same as the charger. Not only wires, but also circuits are hidden under the cover. This means that this is the same power supply, only stationary, that is, it is like a charger left in the socket,” warned Sergey Kuzmenko, head of the Roskachestvo Digital Expertise Center .

Having children in the home also increases the need to unplug chargers and store them out of reach, as the power supply is dangerous even when not in use.

In addition, many do not know that chargers left in the socket, although minimally, consume electricity. This can lead to minor additional costs. At the same time, constant connection also reduces the resource of the charger due to continuous heating, which can reduce its service life by several years.

It is noted that high-quality adapters, if used carefully, can last up to eight years or even longer. If you leave them connected to the network all the time, the service life will be reduced by a couple of years.

Earlier, Russians were warned that an abandoned smartphone found could be part of a fraudulent scheme.
