Beer supplies from  China to Russia reached record levels in August 2024, increasing 1.7 times compared to the same month of the previous year, RIA Novosti reports , citing data from the Chinese customs service.

According to the Chinese agency, the volume of foamy drink imports to  the Russian Federation reached its all-time high of $3.2 million. Compared to July 2024, the growth was almost 9%.

In the first seven months of 2024, Russia purchased Chinese beer for $17.9 million, ranking third among importers of this product from China. Australia leads with a supply volume of $3.64 million, and Hong Kong is in second place with $3.58 million.

“There is a steady growth in demand for Chinese beer on the Russian market. This may be due to changes in consumer preferences and an expansion of the range of imported products,” said Li Zhao, a representative of the PRC Customs Service.

Before this, Russians were told that the volume of the illegal online alcohol sales market increased by 60% in 2023 , reaching 80 billion rubles. Experts note that the ban on online alcohol sales in Russia has been in effect for 17 years, which leads to significant losses for the state budget.

Earlier, Europe sharply increased wine supplies to Russia.
