Roskomnadzor currently sees no reason to unblock the Discord app in Russia, agency representatives told Gazeta.Ru.

“There are currently no grounds for unblocking Discord,” Roskomnadzor said.

The department recalled that access to the messenger was restricted due to violation of legislation in the field of information dissemination. It is specified that compliance with the rules is necessary to prevent the use of Discord as a platform for recruiting terrorists and extremists, selling drugs and posting illegal information.

Earlier, on October 15, the Telegram channel “Exploit” announced that all entries with illegal content that Roskomnadzor found in Discord had disappeared from the Register of Prohibited Information. The authors of the channel suggested that Discord representatives complied with Roskomnadzor’s demand and removed information prohibited in Russia.

Discord was blocked on October 8. Company representatives stated that they were investigating the reasons for the situation.

Earlier it was reported that the Russian-language Discord domain began redirecting to a site advertising the contract service of the Russian Armed Forces.
