The Centre for Monitoring Racist and Xenophobic Behaviour has filed a lawsuit against Polish President Andrzej Duda over his comments on Agnieszka Holland’s film Green Border, TVN24 has learned. Duda will stand trial in October 2025.

The case concerns the president’s words spoken on September 20, 2023, on TVP Info. Andrzej Duda said that day that he was “not surprised that border guards who had seen the film used the following words: ‘Only pigs sit in the cinema hall.'”

The first hearing is scheduled for 24 October 2025 at the Warsaw District Court. It will be held remotely.

The premiere of the film “Green Border” took place on September 5, 2023, as part of the 80th Venice International Film Festival. The film was awarded a special jury prize. The film is set on the Belarusian-Polish border in the early 2020s. The main characters are refugees, an English teacher from Afghanistan and a family of Syrians.

Earlier it was reported that the plane with Polish President Duda, returning from New York, failed to land at Warsaw Chopin Airport on the first attempt. As TVN24 found out, the reason was an ornithologist – the plane had previously collided with a bird on the runway – and the specialist was invited to remove the animal’s body.
