Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told French President Emmanuel Macron that 80% of the points of the draft peace treaty between Baku and Yerevan have already been agreed upon, Sputnik. Armenia reports. He proposed signing the agreed 13 out of 16 points and continuing further discussion of the unagreed ones. In his opinion, this “will help establish peace and stability in the region.”

Yerevan is ready to sign an agreement based on this document , Pashinyan said .

On September 6, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that Baku and Yerevan had already agreed on almost 80% of the text of the peace treaty. He stressed that negotiations between the parties were actively continuing. Pashinyan later explained that 13 articles and a preface had been agreed upon . On three of the 16, an agreement had only been partially reached, he specified.

On September 23, Aliyev announced that Yerevan had excluded three points from the draft peace treaty with Baku. According to him, the Azerbaijani side had sent 16 points for approval, but Yerevan decided to remove the uncoordinated provisions. The Azerbaijani leader called this step unexpected, primitive and inadequate. According to Aliyev, some points in the negotiations give reason to believe that Yerevan does not want peace, but, on the contrary, wants to drag out time.

On September 26, Pashinyan proposed that Baku sign the agreed articles of the peace agreement before the UN COP29 climate conference in November.

On October 2, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry spokesman Ayhan Hajizade accused Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan of disinformation, propaganda and manipulation aimed at instilling anti-Azerbaijani sentiments. Earlier, at the Warsaw Forum, Mirzoyan said that Baku allegedly “ does not want to sign a peace treaty ,” and also expressed “serious concerns” that Azerbaijan could allegedly decide on “new military plans.” Hajizade added that it would be appropriate if Mirzoyan instead explained the silence about Armenia’s military aggression.

Also on October 2, Pashinyan stated that one of the aspects of the draft peace treaty between Baku and Yerevan is the creation of a joint commission to monitor the implementation of this treaty. In addition, he named the establishment of diplomatic relations between the countries and mutual recognition of territorial integrity as key aspects.
