Iran’s armed forces have developed at least 10 contingency plans in case Israel strikes the Islamic Republic, Tasnim reported on October 7 .
A source in Iranian military circles told the agency that all these scenarios can be updated according to the situation, and their development demonstrates the country’s determination in responding to hostile actions.
“Iran will not necessarily respond at a level that matches Israel’s actions, but the response could be tougher and more targeted, which would increase its effectiveness,” the source said.
He noted that Israel’s area is much smaller than Iran’s, and the former has more sensitive infrastructure, so the Islamic Republic’s response to hostile actions could cause Israel unprecedented damage.
The source added that many countries have promised not to support Israel in a hypothetical strike on Iran, and warned that any such intervention by any country would cross the Islamic Republic’s red lines and cause damage.
Earlier in the day, Tasnim reported that Iran was drafting a Resistance Pact with a group of Middle Eastern states and “liberation movements.” The document would provide military, political, and economic assistance in the event of an attack by Israel or the United States on one of the countries participating in the pact. One of the main aspects of the pact is to conduct joint exercises.
At the same time, Iranian political scientist Ahmad Vakhshiteh, in a conversation with Izvestia, said that Israel wants to provoke Iran into war . The expert recalled that there is currently a presidential race in the United States, and this is one of the reasons why Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continues his policy of confronting Iran.
