Kyiv will not become a member of the European Union until it completely renounces its nationalist past, former Polish Prime Minister Leszek Miller said on Zet Radio. According to him, in Ukraine “those who gave criminal orders for ethnic cleansing today have monuments and streets.”

The problem with our neighbors is not only connected with the unresolved issue of Volyn, but also, perhaps, first and foremost, with what they are doing today. Today, murderers are becoming heroes , Miller said .

Earlier, Polish President Andrzej Duda said that Ukraine has “a lot of problems with its past during World War II.” He explained that he was referring to topics such as Ukraine’s collaboration with Nazi Germany, as well as participation in the Holocaust and  the Volyn massacre .

At the same time, Warsaw continues to support Kiev in the conflict with Moscow. On September 13, the country’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk emphasized that Ukraine’s military equipment meets the interests of Western countries and Poland itself.

Also, the first deputy chairman of the State Council of Crimea, Sergey Tsekov, in a conversation with NEWS.ru expressed the opinion that Ukraine could start a war with Poland against the backdrop of old enmity. They have a huge historical legacy of hatred behind them , a hundred years long, which began with Bohdan Khmelnytsky, he said. According to Tsekov, while Russia helped the Ukrainians for many years, Poland treated them like serfs.
