Lawyer Denis Spitsyn said that any actions with cryptocurrency fall under the federal law “On digital financial assets”. His words are quoted by “Rossiyskaya Gazeta” .
He noted that this law is the only regulation that governs the use and storage of cryptocurrency in Russia.
“Tax authorities consider profit from cryptocurrency transactions as income, excluding the costs of acquiring it,” the lawyer said.
According to him, a tax is paid on the resulting difference. If the profit for the reporting period was no more than 5 million rubles, the tax is 13%, if more – 15%.
To pay the tax, you must submit a 3-NDFL declaration to the Federal Tax Service or the MFC at the place of registration. The deadline for filing the declaration is April 30, for payment – July 15.
In September, it became known that the Russian Ministry of Finance was considering introducing an excise tax on electricity for cryptocurrency miners. At the first stage, this could be an indirect tax on the electricity consumed by miners. Russia has become one of the world leaders in mining thanks to the excess of energy resources in Siberia. Interest in the industry is growing, especially from foreign investors.
Earlier, the Russian Federation proposed to restrict cryptomining in Siberia.
