Iran’s missile strike on Israel was an act of self-defense, said the country’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. He stressed that this right is enshrined in the norms of the UN Charter, RIA Novosti reports.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry specified that Araghchi had already held telephone conversations with colleagues from Germany, France, Great Britain and other countries. The agenda included issues of the Iranian attack on Israel and the situation in the Gaza Strip. The minister noted that Iran had shown restraint for several months against the backdrop of Israel’s attacks on Lebanon and Gaza.
On the evening of October 1, Iran attacked Israel with ballistic missiles. They were launched in two waves, about 400 shells in total. Footage published online showed dozens of missiles in the sky.
The head of the Foreign Ministry of the Jewish state, Israel Katz, in turn, stated that the Iranian government crossed the red line by launching a massive attack on Israeli territory. The minister emphasized that the world community should support Tel Aviv in the confrontation with Tehran. Katz added that Israel will not forget the actions of the countries that supported Israel in this situation.
