Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Moscow on October 7 to attend the CIS summit, the press service of the Azerbaijani leader reported. He was met at Vnukovo-2 Airport by Russian officials, including Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin.
Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, stated on the sidelines of the meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers in Moscow that Russia and Azerbaijan are actively cooperating based on the importance of solving regional problems. In a commentary to the Report.az portal, she noted that the bloc needs to do everything possible to prevent Western countries from destabilizing the South Caucasus region.
Earlier, the Russian government reported that Moscow and Baku had created a bilateral working group on the issue of the shallowing of the Caspian Sea . It included representatives of relevant ministries and departments. Research institutes of the two countries will also work on the problem. Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of Russia Sergei Anoprienko and his Azerbaijani counterpart Rauf Gadzhiyev were appointed co-chairs of the group.
