Israeli President Isaac Herzog has called on political forces in the Middle East to organize a NATO-like force to counter Iran, Al Arabiya reports. He has called on the region’s population to stand in Tehran’s way.
In his address, the Israeli president called Iran a threat to the Middle East. He added that a plan for retaliatory actions against the republic is under consideration, but did not give a specific time frame.
Earlier, the idea of creating an analogue of NATO was expressed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. According to the press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov, it is necessary to understand the details of such statements on the topic of the formation of the Alliance.
MP Leonid Slutsky called for not supporting Netanyahu’s proposal to create an analogue of NATO. In his opinion, such an alliance will not lead to peace in the region. The parliamentarian recalled that Russia has always advocated for resolving the situation in the Middle East through political and diplomatic means, and not through the formation of military alliances against individual countries.
