The Georgian government “will find the strength” to apologize for the conflict with the Ossetians in 2008, which was unleashed by the country’s former president Mikheil Saakashvili, said Bidzina Ivanishvili, founder of the ruling Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia party. According to him, as reported by TASS, this will happen after the results of the elections, which will end on October 26.
Immediately after the elections on October 26, when the instigators of the war are convicted and all those guilty of destroying Georgian-Ossetian friendship receive the strictest legal response, we will definitely find the strength to apologize , Ivanishvili said .
He added that the apology would follow the actions of the “traitorous” movement of the country’s leadership, which resulted in a conflict with the brothers and sisters from Ossetia. Forgiveness, according to Ivanishvili, is the “cornerstone of Christianity” for both the residents of Ossetia and the citizens of Georgia. In conclusion, he emphasized that this was a fratricidal confrontation that was imposed and provoked by the actions of Georgia’s enemies.
Earlier, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said that the country’s authorities expect unprecedented outside interference against the backdrop of the elections. According to him, citizens of the country have already heard threats and observed manifestations of blackmail from the West said.
