A man posing as a veteran of a special military operation in Ukraine deceived a resident of St. Petersburg for four million rubles, the publication Fontanka reports .
In this case, it was the fraudster himself who initially contacted the police to voluntarily surrender – he said that he had met a 34-year-old woman from St. Petersburg, and when he found out that she was financially secure, he extorted money from her under the pretext of a “trial against the Ministry of Defense.”
The man added that he took the money from his new acquaintance in parts, from 160 thousand to two million rubles. In total, it is reported that the total amount of money that he received fraudulently is four million rubles.
Previously, two men were detained in Moscow , suspected of fraud with the promise to return a man from the SVO for money.
Law enforcement officers discovered the men’s criminal activity and detained them after handing over the money.
Earlier, a second suspect in extortion from a SVO member was detained .
