The US government’s Securities and Exchange Commission is asking the court to threaten billionaire Elon Musk with sanctions, CNN reported, citing sources in the commission.

The reason for such punishment is said to be Musk’s refusal to attend the hearings on his purchase of Twitter (social network X).

“The Commission finds that Musk violated a court order that required the Commission’s written consent to reschedule the hearing,” the Commission’s request states.

According to the court, Musk failed to show up for the Sept. 10 meeting of the commission, and his lawyers warned the commission that the billionaire would be absent because he had to participate in the launch of his company SpaceX . However, the commission insists that it notified Musk of the planned meeting several days in advance, and his lawyers reported Musk’s absence only a few hours in advance.

Before this, American entrepreneur and businessman Elon Musk said that he would like to fly to Mars if such an opportunity presented itself.

Earlier, the Crew Dragon ship with tourists landed in the Gulf of Mexico.
