The main event in the CIS in 2025 will be the address of the heads of state of the Commonwealth in connection with the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War, said the Secretary General of the association Sergei Lebedev. According to him, the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko will deliver a report on this issue, reports a NEWS.ru correspondent.

The main event in the CIS under the chairmanship of Tajikistan next year will, of course, be the events related to the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. That is why tomorrow the first issue at the meeting of the Council of Heads of State is planned to be discussed, the address of the heads of state in connection with this date. It is noteworthy that the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko will deliver a report on this issue. This decision was made due to the fact that Belarus is one of the republics of the former Soviet Union that suffered the most during the Great Patriotic War , Lebedev said.

According to him, the appeal will be aimed primarily at preserving the memory of the war and the heroism of the peoples of the USSR. It is also planned to discuss the need for joint steps to counter the glorification of the Nazis and their accomplices and to preserve the memory and memorials to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War.

It has already been decided that this appeal, after its adoption, will be distributed to the UN and other international organizations. But I cannot help but say that in a narrow format, the heads of the CIS foreign policy departments have agreed to hold the next meeting in Astana, approximately on April 11 next year , Lebedev concluded.
