German Chancellor Olaf Scholz acted as a “vassal chancellor of the United States ” in the matter of deploying American missiles on German territory, Bundestag member of parliament Sevim Dagdelen from the Sahra Wagenknecht Union (BSW) party said in an interview with the Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung (NOZ) on October 14.

According to Dagdelen, the German population will bear the risks of the decision taken in Washington.

In this way, Scholz leaves Germany’s national security interests at the mercy of the US administration, the politician believes.Earlier, on October 8, the German party “The Left” reported on the introduction of a resolution in the Bundestag against the planned deployment of American missiles in Germany. At the same time, the “Left” group wants Scholz to also speak out against this step.

On July 10, the Pentagon announced that the United States would begin deploying long-range weapons on German territory in 2026. Scholz called this step “a very good decision” that allegedly would not lead to an escalation with Russia. His position was criticized by a number of German politicians. In particular, BSW leader Sahra Wagenknecht also said that Scholz is a vassal chancellor who does not consider it necessary to discuss the measure in the Bundestag.

Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed in July that if US-made medium- and shorter-range missiles appear in Germany, important facilities in Russia will be within range of US weapons. In that case, Moscow will consider itself free from the moratorium on the deployment of such missiles, he warned.
