MOSCOW, September 7 — RIA Novosti. Voters in the Kursk and Kemerovo regions are the most active in the gubernatorial elections, said Ella Pamfilova, chairperson of the Central Election Commission, at a briefing on the voting process.

“As for the elections of senior officials, the highest turnout is in the Kursk and Kemerovo regions, already over 45 percent. In the elections to legislative bodies in the city of Sevastopol, almost 40 percent,” she said.
As for the by-elections to the State Duma, the highest turnout on the first day of voting was noted in the Bryansk region – almost 25 percent, the head of the Central Election Commission added.
From September 6 to 8, elections at various levels are being held in Russia — about four thousand campaigns in total. Heads of administrations are being elected in 21 regions these are, Bashkiria, Kalmykia, Zabaikalsky, Stavropol and , Astrakhan, Volgograd, Vologda, Kaliningrad, Kurgan, Kursk, Lipetsk, Murmansk, Orenburg, , Sakhalin, Tula, Chelyabinsk, and. In the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug, Ingushetia, Crimea and Kabardino-Balkaria, heads will be elected by regional parliaments.
