The popular WhatsApp messenger now supports widgets for iPhone users. This innovation will be available on all Apple devices with iOS 14 and above. This was reported by the WABetaInfo (WBI) portal.

WhatsApp offers two types of widgets: Chats and Calls. Each comes in two sizes: square (2×2) and rectangular (2×4). The smaller widget can pin up to two contacts, while the larger widget can pin up to four. Widgets can be placed on the home screen next to other apps or in the widget feed, which is accessible to the left of the Home screen.

This improvement will provide users with quick access to the contacts they need. In the Chats widget, users will be able to add Recent, Favorite, Popular, and Pinned conversations. Widgets will be updated in real time, displaying ones on avatars if a new message has arrived from the interlocutor. Thus, without having to log into the messenger, users will be able to see who wrote to them and how many messages were sent.

The Calls widget will allow users to pin contacts of friends, family, and anyone they call most often on WhatsApp. Clicking on a contact’s avatar will automatically start an audio call. If desired, users can turn on the camera so that the caller can see them.

WhatsApp is an American free instant messaging and voice over IP service owned by Meta Corporation (recognized as extremist and banned in Russia). The monthly audience of the service worldwide exceeds 2 billion users.

WhatsApp previously introduced the ability to add chats to folders on the conversation screen.
