Armenia is ready to sign the agreed draft peace agreement with Azerbaijan as early as October this year, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at a meeting of the heads of state of the CIS member states in Moscow. According to him, the parties agreed to intensify work upon completion of the document’s approval, TASS reports.
He noted that Yerevan and Baku must now make decisions on a number of fundamental issues that will become the basis for peace between the countries. In particular, he highlighted the issues of mutual recognition of the territorial integrity of states, confirmation of the absence of territorial claims against each other and the obligation not to make them in the future.
Earlier, the press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov reported that Vladimir Putin discussed the Zangezur corridor with Ilham Aliyev and Nikol Pashinyan . According to him, the Russian president met with his colleagues separately and held face-to-face talks.
Earlier, Russian Presidential Aide for International Affairs Yuri Ushakov said that Vladimir Putin and Azerbaijani leader Ilham Aliyev, as well as Nikol Pashinyan, do not yet intend to hold a trilateral meeting to resolve the conflict between Baku and Yerevan. According to him, the idea of such a meeting has not found comprehensive support.
Before this, Ushakov stated that although all the “rough work” to regulate relations between Baku and Yerevan was done in Moscow, the US and other Western countries are trying to interfere in this process. According to him, the activities of the EU mission in Armenia are actively expanding.
