Despite  Nigeria ‘s traditionally conservative culture , where the topic of sex often remains taboo, the sex toy industry has recently experienced an unexpected boom. Dildos and other erotic products are rapidly disappearing from the shelves, reflecting the growing demand in this non-traditional market. Even the worsening economic situation in the country is not hindering the growth in sales, Punch reports .

Niniola, the owner of an adult entertainment shop that offers a wide range of intimate products and sex toys, ventured into the sex toy business in 2020 and credits the location of her shop in an estate in Ogudu axis as a key factor in the growth of her business. According to Niniola, the economic situation has not affected the demand for dildos and other sex toys as people always have the means to achieve sexual satisfaction.

The woman added that even amid the lockdown and social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic, her business continued to grow and she now receives orders from outside Lagos. She said her products are also very popular online as she is a rare sex toy seller in Nigeria and manages to ensure privacy for her customers.

Earlier, a truck driver was distracted by a sex chat and hit a pregnant woman.
