The horror genre is the most accessible for Russian film distributors in terms of purchasing films abroad, film critic Yegor Moskvitin shared this opinion on the air of the radio station “Moscow Speaks”. He recalled that several horror films are released in Russian cinemas every week.

Every week three or four horror films are released in Russia, because this genre is the most accessible for our distributors in terms of purchase abroad. We are still sold American horror films, while large, big American films are not sold. This is a familiar genre because there are Hollywood stars in it, and it often brings in good money , the expert noted .

He cited the example of the film “The Soul Collector” with Nicolas Cage, which collected 400 million rubles in Russia. According to the film critic, this is an “unthinkable” amount.

Earlier, director Damien Leone announced the filming of the fourth part of the horror film “Frightener”, although the third part has not yet been released in cinemas. He did not reveal any other details about the work on the sequel. “Frightener 3” was presented on September 19 at the Fantastic Fest festival in Austin (Texas).

The franchise about a maniacal clown terrorizing an entire city became a cult horror movie after its first release, but it wasn’t until the second installment that it really took off. “Frightening 2” exceeded expectations, grossing $15 million. The film’s budget was less than a tenth of that amount, $250,000.
