Ukraine is planning to draft another 200,000 people into the army by the end of 2024, the British newspaper The Times reports. An officer from Odessa told the publication that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have major problems with mobilization due to corruption, a shortage of personnel, and health problems of future soldiers.
Earlier, military expert and retired colonel Andrey Koshkin said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had been able to improve the situation with new recruits amid a new law tightening mobilization requirements. However, according to him, the expansion of the circle of those subject to military service had led to a despondent mood among the soldiers.
Before this, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky extended martial law and mobilization in the country for another 90 days. The end of mobilization was postponed 12 times.
Meanwhile, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, expressed the opinion that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky threw Ukrainian fighters into the “meat grinder” in the Kursk region . She explained that this was how he wanted to extend the mobilization in the country.
