Fifty-five people were killed in Israeli air strikes on Lebanese towns on Tuesday, October 1, the Lebanese Health Ministry’s emergency operations center said, adding that 156 residents were injured.
Earlier, the Israeli army press service reported the destruction of Hezbollah rocket unit commander Mohammed Ali Ismail in southern Lebanon. It is claimed that his deputy Hussein Ahmad Ismail and other Hezbollah commanders were killed. Mohammed Ali Ismail is considered responsible for the attacks on Israeli territory carried out on September 25 with surface-to-surface missiles.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stressed that Russian authorities strongly condemn Israel’s large-scale military attacks on Lebanon. She noted that Moscow considers indiscriminate attacks that result in civilian casualties to be completely unacceptable.
Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden expressed concern about a possible Israeli ground operation in Lebanon. According to the head of the White House, a ceasefire must be immediately established in the conflict zone to stabilize the situation.
