Russians may be allowed to transfer pension points to parents

Deputies are preparing a bill allowing children to transfer pension points to their parents, TASS reports , citing the document. Children will be able to send part of their pension points to their parents in equal shares.

Deputy head of the LDPR faction Sergei Leonov explained that this will allow elderly parents who have not accumulated a sufficient number of points to retire faster or receive a higher pension.

The initiative will amend the law “On Insurance Pensions”. According to the document, children will be able to send up to 2 points of the individual pension coefficient accumulated for each calendar year to their parents in equal shares. If the child has only one parent, the points will be transferred in full.

In this case, the individual pension coefficient of parents should not exceed 10, which is the maximum value under federal law. This rule will also apply to parents who are foreign citizens or stateless persons who permanently reside in Russia and have the right to an insurance pension.

The deputies note that the minimum length of service for the appointment of an old-age pension will be 15 years, and the individual pension coefficient will be 30 points from 2025. The authors of the bill believe that in such conditions, additional support is needed for those who retire.
