Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto called Ukraine’s halting of Lukoil oil transit an unfriendly move. His words are reported by RIA Novosti .
According to Szijjártó, the EU has failed to make it clear to Ukraine that the energy security of other EU member states cannot be jeopardized. He added that energy security is of paramount importance.
“They said it was not a big problem for us. Slovakia and we asked the European Commission for help , and I think it would have been natural for them to defend the interests of their members. But instead they said it was not a problem,” the Hungarian minister explained.
Before this, Szijjarto said that Budapest no longer cared whether Ukraine would extend the transit of gas from Russia through its territory from 2025 thanks to the Turkish Stream gas pipeline.
Szijjarto also noted that Russia is committed to fulfilling agreements on ensuring Hungary’s energy security.
Earlier, Putin promised oil workers jobs “for 100 years.”
