Marketplaces will be required to display information on product cards about whether they have the “Honest Sign” marking. This was reported by Rossiyskaya Gazeta , citing a decision taken at a meeting of the State Commission for Combating Illegal Circulation of Industrial Products.
The amendments will be made to the draft law “On the platform economy”, which is being prepared by the Ministry of Economic Development . In addition, marketplaces will be granted access to the State Register of Trademarks and Service Marks to prevent the sale of goods that violate intellectual property rights. These measures are expected to protect citizens from counterfeit goods and improve the traceability of goods sold through marketplaces.
According to Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov , the online trade market is growing rapidly, but the number of complaints about marketplaces from both buyers and sellers is also increasing. In 2023, marketplace turnover grew by 28% to almost 6.5 trillion rubles. This year, the growth rate has accelerated to 40%. This segment already accounts for about 15% of all retail sales in the country.
