North Korea has once again launched balloons, presumably filled with garbage, toward South Korea, the Yonhap news agency reported, citing the Republic of Korea Joint Chiefs of Staff. They are expected to reach Gyeonggi Province, which surrounds Seoul. Local residents have been urged to notify the army or police about such balloons.
In a message sent to journalists at 22:26 local time (16:26 Moscow time – NEWS.ru) , the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said that North Korean balloons could reach Gyeonggi Province, which surrounds Seoul <…> and urged people to report balloons to the military or police , the publication said .
Earlier, Yonhap reported that North Korea launched about 240 garbage balloons toward South Korea. Of these, about 10 landed on the territory of the republic. The Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces of South Korea noted that no hazardous substances were found in the bags.
Later, South Korea complained that the DPRK had been launching garbage balloons toward the republic for the second day in a row . The country’s armed forces recommended that citizens report fallen objects and not approach them.
