The event was dedicated to the 92nd anniversary of the Indian Air Force. More than a million spectators were located on a two-kilometer stretch of beach , which the local authorities and the show organizers were not prepared for. When people began to leave the party, a crush began in several places. People could not leave, many needed emergency assistance due to the heat, but not everyone could receive it in a timely manner.
Forty people were hospitalized, five people died. In total, 150 air show visitors required medical assistance due to stress and dehydration.
Earlier, a mass crush occurred at Koltsovo airport amid a false bomb threat. Panic in the passport control area was provoked by a scream from one of the passengers. Border guards resolved the situation within a few minutes. Two people were injured as a result of the fall. However, eyewitnesses claimed that airport employees at passport control were not prepared for the large flow of passengers and were sleeping on the job.
